Ethyl acrylate, stabilized appears as a clear colorless liquid with an acrid odor. Flash point 60°F. May polymerize exothermically if heated or contaminated. If the polymerization takes place inside a container, the container may rupture violently. Auto ignition temperature 721°F (383°C) (NTP). Less dense than water. Vapors heavier than air. Used to make paints and plastics.

Uses
Mainly used as a comonomer for synthetic resins. The resulting copolymers are widely used in coatings, textiles, leather, adhesives and other industries. It is used in the synthesis of plastics and resins.Ethyl acrylate is an intermediate for the preparation of carbamate insecticide carbosulfan. It can also be used as raw material for protective coatings, adhesives and paper impregnating agents. Its polymers can be used as anti-cracking agents for leather. Its copolymer with ethylene is a hot-melt adhesive. Its copolymer with 5% chloroethyl vinyl ether is a synthetic rubber with excellent oil resistance and heat resistance, which can replace nitrile rubber in some applications.
Safety, Security & Risk
The substance may polymerize spontaneously under the action of light, peroxides and elevated temperature.
